Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@walshbehavioral.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes. We accept Aetna PPO and Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL PPO and Blue Choice PPO plans.

All other health insurance plans are considered "Out-of-network" (OON). We also work with clients looking to use their OON benefits to ensure that therapy stays feasible and affordable.

Investing in counseling is ultimately an investment in yourself. We’ve consistently seen that when clients don’t feel some level of financial commitment to the therapeutic process, it becomes harder to stay engaged, leading to more cancellations, no‑shows, or difficulty maintaining momentum. Having a meaningful financial investment often supports the emotional and mental investment needed for therapy to be effective.

Our current fees for self-pay clients are $220 for 60‑minute individual sessions and $250 for 60‑minute couples or family sessions. Group therapy is $55 per session. We also offer sliding‑scale (pay‑what‑you‑can) options on a case‑by‑case basis.

For clients using insurance or OON benefits, it is recommended that you contact your insurance directly to inquire about session cost (copays, deductibles, etc).

Everyone’s therapy experience is going to look different, because we all have different life experiences, needs, and goals. Generally, you can expect that therapy sessions will look like a supportive space where you are encouraged to show up fully as you are. Some days may feel hard and heavy, and some may be filled with laughter and joy, and everything in between.

Everyone has different needs, and how long someone is in therapy for can range significantly from a couple months to a couple years and beyond. You may be coming in for temporary or short-term concerns and only need therapy for a short amount of time to complete treatment goals. Sometimes, people like to stay in therapy for a prolonged amount of time to address larger goals and maintain a relationship with a supportive figure in their life. Whatever you may be looking for, your therapist will periodically check-in with you regarding your treatment to ensure that you’re getting what you need.

It’s important that you feel a good fit with your therapist. We always encourage clients to provide feedback to their therapist regarding approach, and what sits well, and what doesn’t. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience, and we are happy to work with you with what you need. If after having a conversation with your therapist and you still don’t feel a good match, please reach out directly to our intake team: intake@walshbehavioral.com for more information and next steps.

At this time, we offer virtual options for clients living in Illinois. You will work directly with your therapist to determine session frequency.

Note: If you are attending an appointment with your therapist virtually, you MUST be physically located in Illinois during the time of your appointment. Any questions about this can be directed to info@walshbehavioral.com.

We have morning, afternoon, and evening appointments available during the week (Monday-Friday), as well as some weekend appointments, depending on your therapist’s schedule. Each therapist sets their own schedule and determines their availability. During the initial intake call, we will work with you to find an appointment time that works for your schedule.
